I'm Gail Boulton at leadjoyfully.com I'm a recovering elementary principal and my site is all about helping others motivate, encourage, and celebrate others in the workplace (and in life!). My baby is 7. She’s pure magic. And sass and ornery. And .. also also, parenting is hilarious and fun and crazy and exhausting, and just the best kind of tired each night. I’ve been working on a new business venture for over a year now (even longer in my mind), and every time I do that “how come you’re not further along” thing to myself, I remember I’m putting my energy towards what’s most important to me. I feel like we’re being told to put *ourselves* first by every thought leader out there these days, and I totally get it, there are people that need to hear that. There are also people who need to hear that being a Mom, being a Wife, and enjoying all of those things more than work is okay, too. This is where I’ve been. This is where I’ll be. Trying not to clean up the messes my kids are making until they’re done, laughing until I literally cry because LAUNDRY ALWAYS. And Dishes. And, oh yeah, I own a business or 2. In that order. This is life right now and I freakin’ love it. xo Lindsey

I've been a business owner for 14 years, and the best piece of advice I can give you is to be kind and keep yourself in check. Asking a support question? Be kind. Commenting on a facebook post you disagree with? Be kind. Emailing someone? Be kind. If your head isn't in a positive space, do yourself a favor and wait to respond. You are responsible for the things you say, the way you make people feel, and ultimately the people you surround yourself with. The world does not revolve around you, but your world revolves around the energy you create.
